BLS Instructor Package                                #90-1037   $96.00                                                                                                                                             (includes teaching DVD, Instructor and Student Manual)

Heartsaver First Aid CPR Instructor Manual    #90-1029   $49.00                                                                                                                                             (includes Instructor Manual only, teaching DVD sold separately)

As an American Heart Association Instructor you can volunteer, teach on your own, for your employer or others. We support your goals and want to help you acheive them by successfully completing the course and continuing an active role teaching. It is important that you have an idea how you will use your status and have an audience in mind you would like to reach.  Also be sure you have the time to commit to development. Most new instructors are successful when they can teach or help teach at least once a week for the first few months and have little delay between taking the course and getting active in the classroom!  We offer courses several times a year and if this is not the best time for you to dedicate the time to developing as an instructor we encourage you to register at a later date.

Other considerations: If you will be teaching on your own then investing in your own equipment is best. A Training Center may have very limited resources for renting. Starter manikin sets run approximately $300-$400 with additional equipment needs such as AED trainers or practice supplies $200-$300. We do NOT recommend you purchase equipment in advance of taking the course as we want you to be sure it is a good fit. But consider investing back into yourself a little with each class you teach and soon you will have an inventory that will last many years. We will go over equipment choices and resources at class. If you research in advance, feel free to bring information with you.

To maintain your Instructors status, you must teach at least  courses every to years, attend any required updates, forums and stay aligned ith an AHA Approved Training Center. Training Centers may have additional criteria for alignment.

Designed for medical professionals,EMT’s, emergency room, nurses, or others that are well-versed in CPR and ECC techniques, and maintain the cognitive knowledge and skills to pass a written test and CPR skills check without sitting through a 3 hour class and watching videos. This is an appointment to take the written BLS exam, which you must pass with 84% or higher (on first try with no remediation), and then pass an adult CPR skills check and infant CPR skills check, again – no coaching or remediation.

The good part – if you have the right stuff, you’re out in 30 minutes or less with a new BLS HCP card, for $75. You must have a current (yeah, that means not-expired) AHA BLS card with you, and have an AHA BLS book with you (borrowed, checked out from library, we don’t care). You will pay $20 at the time of registration to make an appointment during check out. You only pay the $55 balance if you pass. No refund of the $20 if you aren’t successful but you can apply it to a classroom version . BLS Challenge is both written exam and skills testing with an instructor, but you can bring a buddy, take the written test and then skills test together. If you do not pass the written test you do not qualify to proceed to the skills portion. You can arrive early and use our equipment to practice but not with an instructor so another good reason to bring a buddy!

We are available 7 days a week!
